I have to say that the large picture of the crowd and the ring, nice picture by the way, reminded me of a bull fight with some very confused participants! I thought we did strange things to kill time.

By the way, a match was forfeited on account of a bloody nose? What was she, some kind of cow-ard? I bet the people who put money on her must have a real beef with her owner.

I went to Martigny once to see a Combat des Reines.
The goal is to bet on cows and get drunk. On the public speaker system you’d hear announcements such as “we’ve found a cow near the train station, will the owner please come and get her”. The owner was probably to drunk to get up to fetch his cow anyway.

I like to think that the cow that was making a break for it was going to get a folding chair to bash over her opponent’s head while the ref looked the other way, a la professional wrestling. Though really, this is awesome enough on its own.
