Are tomatoes supposed to have noses?

Cute, isn't he?

Our balcony garden is still amazing and delighting us. In exchange for a little watering now and then, it continues to offer up edible delicacies. The zucchinis are still producing (though slowing down a bit as they outgrow their pots), and tomato season is in full swing. I've harvested about 50 so far, but only one has had facial features. I suppose that's a good thing?

The peas are not pleased with the heat that we've been having, but they're still producing a little bit here and there. There are about a gazillion peppers on the pepper plants, and we've had three to eat so far. The recently-planted spinach is doing nicely, although the arugula does not seem interested in producing more leaves since it was harvested the first time.

Mmmmm, city life definitely agrees with me.

That tomato is obviously a liar. It should be punished. I sentence it to death by caprese.

Sigh, I will begrudgingly carry out said sentence.

Cow or buffalo?

The tomato looks like the witch in Oz. Very cute.

Peas prefer cooler weather, so they'll definitely do better in the spring. You might try planting seeds soon for a late fall harvest. That could work too.

Bluefish - perhaps if it were green I could see the resemblance more...

TBF - great minds think alike. Yesterday I pulled out the couple dead pea plants and planted new seeds in their place, hoping for some fall peas. Next year I will definitely plant them as early as possible in the spring.

That's the second tomato I've seen with a Spitznase this summer. The other grew up in New Hampshire. Conspiracy?

Now all it needs is a set of googly eyes...

Pointy-nose tomatoes are taking over the world!

Christopher - if the store were open today, I'd be out looking for googly eyes right this second. Alas, it is a holiday...
