Notes from a wet Munich summer

Summer in Munich has gotten off to a rather rainy start. Some people are complaining about this. Not me!

Luckily our balcony garden doesn’t seem to mind the rain. We’ve been enjoying a steady stream of fresh strawberries, peas, and zucchini flowers. Yum.

This weekend 18,000 orange-shirt-clad people ran through the city in the Munich Stadlauf. We went to cheer on some friends. My nose was very happy that it wasn’t hotter out.

This week Munich is offering up the perfect rainy-weather activity, Filmfest München. There are so many interesting-sounding movies on the schedule that I’m having trouble figuring out what all to see.

Rain or not, I’m enjoying being home in Munich for a while. Which reminds me, I still have several spring trips to blog about…

  I'm curious to know how the rest of Germany is fairing rain wise. The weather has been incredible over on the other side of the pond, not hot or cold.

  Do you ever post recipes? I had somewhere heard you could eat the zucchini with their flowers, but I'd never seen it done. I wanted to take a bite and investigate. Damn computer screen, always in the way.

  Expat Traveler – good luck for your run! I'm jealous of your mild weather – it's getting hot and humid here this week.

  Bonnie – I used to write for a food blog where I'd post recipes, but I've never done it here. I could slap together some zucchini flower cooking instructions, though – maybe this week. Don't drool on the computer.

  We got so lucky for the 4th. Lots of thunderstorms before and after, but perfect weather for our BBQ. Hope your weekend is looking up, too.
