A Rainy Day in Bad Tölz

Munich has been awfully rainy this week. What to do? Grab some friends and hop on a train somewhere, of course. Bad Tölz is an adorable little town about an hour from Munich. Despite the rain we had a lovely day. We…

…wandered the streets and imagined how cute they would be if the sun were out.

…went shopping for hats (among other things).

…found the world’s sexiest potholder.

…consumed Kaffee und Kuchen, little old lady style.

…saw the cutest train station in the world.

…and ran off to join the “Wu Wutang Clean”. I hope there’s no scrubbing involved in the initiation ceremony.

Oh yeah, and some of us even appeared on Bavarian television. Quite the exciting day.

  1. oh isn't Benidiktbeuern cute? The giant monastery there has a great biergarten. My BIL lives in the neighboring dorf. We love visiting him down there!

The DAV alpine hut you can hike to there is really nice too.

  2. Corregio – I don't think I've ever had Bienenstich. They didn't have any yesterday!

Tazzmeyer – I agree. Perhaps weekly field trips are in order.

Juliette – We had lunch at the monastery (although sadly just inside). It's quite cute.

  3. Em – the pink bubbly would have totally made it had any of my photos turned out well. Unfortunately they were all a little blurry…

  4. Touch of Dutch – I agree – Bad Tölz is a pretty cute little town. Might be somewhere I send visitors for a day trip.

  5. What was up with those potholders? German Cake Eating always makes me smile – it seems to be obligatory sometimes. Tough when you don't like cake! But very nice for those who do.

  6. Duckie – I don't like German cake that much, either (not enough gooey, dark chocolate involved for my tastes), but every once in a while I'm in the mood for it. 🙂
