4th of July with the expats

I can’t remember the last time I observed the 4th of July, but who can resist a BBQ by the river with friends?

The banks of the Isar River are extremely popular in the summer, especially in the area near the Tierpark. There were multiple groups of Americans out celebrating their independence here yesterday, and finding our way to the right gathering wasn’t so easy to do. But completely worth it, since I’m sure our group had the most fun.

  1. I remember going down to the lake and celebrating with some expats, some swiss. I even did a small video! Your gathering does look like a blast and reminds me of a north american celebration!

  2. We did manage to pull together a rather 'American' feast… deviled eggs, potato salad, pasta salad, chips & salsa, chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, and so much more. But I'll go out on a limb and declare that the beer was much better than that consumed at a typical 4th of July BBQ…

Ian – yes, the blogging community was well-represented. At least 5 of us there.

  3. Perfect: ths is great 🙂 At our expat 4th, people sad "Wine or beer" Like there is an option on the 4th: it's a beer holiday… 'good to see that the brew was well represented in your gathering as well!

'still no fireworks, though…but lots of fun sharing memories and perspectives.

  4. I almost forgot to mention – we did indeed have a couple small fireworks to get us in the mood. Although unfortunately sparklers proved hard to find in Munich this time of year…
