This is how you welcome me back, Germany?

The Hoff has a new song climbing the German charts. Any chance it won’t become the overplayed hit of the summer? Or should I just get out now?

Update: The above video won’t work in the US, but the link below should (although it won’t work in Germany). What is with requiring separate links for every country? I think someone missed the point of the internet.

  1. Oh my gosh, this is just so horrible. It’s almost like an SNL skit, know what I mean? I mean, WHY? Did you see that German movie, ‘Männerherzen’ and see the cheesy singer guy? HE was better than the Hof. Gag me.

  2. I totally know what you mean – all of his videos have a “this must be fake” quality to them.

Haven’t seen that movie, but after your ringing endorsement I’ll have to keep my eye out for it. 😉

  3. oh no. My German tells me that the Hoff is so popular and I thought he was joking, I’m understanding now that he is right. I really don’t want to listen to this stuff.

  4. It could use a few dachshunds and flying angels, but otherwise is classic Hoff cheesiness. He played this one at his last concert here and people really enjoyed it. yes, we went to see what all the fuss was about and ended up having a lot of fun)

@Harvey – that commercial is so great! I hadn’t seen it

  5. I always thought that the Germans liking the Hoff was a joke…I guess not! Why do all of his songs sound like they are from the 70s?

  6. @Juliette – With trailer music like that, how could it be bad?

@Harvey – I had never seen that before! Love it.

@Ellie – Let’s hope this is the only song of his to get popular this year.

@Kirsten – It’s hopeless. He’s charting in the neighboring countries, too.

@Cliff – They do share some striking similarities. Hair color is a handy way to tell them apart. Not that you’d ever really need to.

@Anne – I couldn’t get anyone to go to the concert with me!

@Michelle – I was thinking that, too. Oh, the horror.

@Jan – I guess the Germans like them that way. 🙂

  7. I should clarify – the movie is funny and one of the characters is a cheesy singer. =) Aforementioned cheesy singer character makes the movie funnier. I recommend the movie and am looking forward to the sequel =)

  8. Welcome back. You were there and we were here. Back to NYC on Sat.
Botanic Garden’s alpine garden was much better than I imagined.
Spatenhaus’s Bavarian creme was good enough to go back another night and annoy the waitress by just getting dessert.
Why do so many (older) men wear khaki vests?
Took lots of photos for blog fodder.

  9. Ohmygod. I am so appalled. Why did I click on the link? Why?
(The US link works in Sudan but not the German one — funny because only one of these countries has sanctions against Sudan and it’s not Germany.)

  10. Found this post rigth now in my lunch break…I am german, female, not teenager anymore and I do not know anyone in or around Munich liking the Hoff for his music…it’s just for ‘Knigth Rider’ in 80ies…
