Our Reviewers

Most of our Fringe reviews are by Julie and Scott, the proprietors of this website. We moved to Edinburgh in 2013 and fell head over heels in love with the Fringe. Every August it will be our goal to see and write about as many shows as humanly possible, because it’s just that much fun.

Because we’ve lived in a bunch of different cities and countries, we have friends from all over who like to come visit us. Those who come during the Fringe get recruited into doing guest reviews. Here’s a little bit more about all of us:

Julie: Loves comedy and theater. Hates boredom. Loves big musicals and all things camp (the more irreverent, the better). Hates venues that are too warm or too cramped. Is slowly but surely becoming a fan of the one-(wo)man play. Wishes she could enjoy a good circus, but it’s just not happening. Loves a perfectly-designed day at the Fringe, with just the right amount of time to get from one show to the next.

Scott: Enjoys observational comedy and contemporary circuses. Loves a good musical, hates a bad one. Believes art is improved by proximity to good food and drink.

The Honourable Husband: An Australo-American visiting from Munich, Germany, this veteran Fringe performer is taking his guest reviewing roll so earnestly that he’s crafted a mission statement.

MISSION STATEMENT: Socialite Alice Roosevelt Longworth is rumored to have said to Dorothy Parker, “If you haven’t got anything nice to say…come sit next to me.” Unfortunately, the seat was already taken by my good self. That’s why the exquisitely kind and utterly fair Julie has outsourced a review or two to her pals, one of whom goes by the name The Honourable Husband. He is a seeker of truth, even if sometimes the truth is a little too true to be entirely kind.

Cindy: A college professor visiting from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She grades on a curve.
