Carnival of Cities coming to This non-American Life

Next Monday I will be hosting the Carnival of Cities here at This non-American Life. What is the Carnival of Cities, you ask? It’s a collection of blog posts from around these here internets, in which each post highlights some aspect of a certain city. It’s a fun way to discover new cities and new blogs, as well as to get some new readers to your blog (but only if you participate, that is).

To participate, all you need is your own blog. Just write a post about the city of your choice and then submit it via this handy submission form. Oh, and make it an interesting post. I have a very short and fickle attention span. You can read all about the guidelines for submission here.

This carnival tends to be heavy on the US cities, so all you people out there living in those there foreign countries should jump all over this chance to edumacate others about your little corner of this rock. So what are you waiting for? Get submitting already.

  1. Ooooh, can I do mine early since I can already predict next Monday?

“Today in Washington DC is stinkin’ hot with stifling humidity and a chance of rush-hour thunderstorms. Current terrorist threat level is Yellow, crime is rampant, mosquitos are abundant, road rage is tres chic, and Bush is still President. God Bless America.”

  2. Stop it, Kirk. You’re giving me the irresistible urge to move to DC….

But just in case it wasn’t clear from my post, you blog about a city sometime this week (or it could be from last week, for all I care) and then send in the link via the submission form by Saturday (or Sunday – I forget). Then on Monday I post a fabulous round-up of all the glamorous submissions that were received. Can’t wait to read that “I love DC” post…

  3. Hey there, I came across your blog while searching for information about Zurich. My husband and I are going to be there for a week and Im trying to find some places for us to eat while we’re there! Im a picky PICKY american eater…mainly, I like simple food (beef, chicken, potatoes, cheese). Ive read alot that Swiss eat alot of liver and sweetbreads..I need to avoid this, lol. Any suggestions on places where I can get more “american” food while Im there? I know I must sound horrible but I hope that Im not!!! If you get a chance and have any suggestions, please email me at lesleyhale78@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time either way.

  4. Annon – Food here basically revolves around beef, chicken, potatoes, and cheese. Whoever told you that the Swiss diet is based on entrails was grossly misinformed or just trying to scare you.

You’ll probably be just fine in any restaurant. If you really need American food, you’re rarely far from a McDonald’s in this city. Having never been to one, I can’t say that I’d recommend them, though.

  5. Caroline – not too late! The deadline is sometime this weekend. See the submission form for the exact time.
